Amway program and employees build 18th area playground
More than 200 volunteers from Amway and the Hispanic Center of Western Michigan joined with community members on June 23 to build a new playground at San Juan Diego Academy, 1650 Godfrey Ave., Wyoming. The design was based on children’s drawings created at a special design event in April.
It is the 18th community playground built by Amway. The program seeks to provide “brain-expander and muscle builder” playgrounds for children in under-served areas. The corporation works with local non-profits to organize the community to plan and build a play structure. They then partner with KaBOOM!, which is known for its innovative one of a kind playgrounds – often based on children’s drawings.
