Herbalife’s Support Keeps Wheels Turning On 850km Bike Ride For Charities
Global nutrition company Herbalife will again support a group of cyclists in a grueling 850km bike ride in the New Year, with the goal of raising over AUD $100,000 for the Herbalife Family Foundation. The 31 eager participants have all turned their lives around through fitness and nutrition, and achieved significant personal milestones over the past 12 months.
From winning personal weight-loss battles and living with major spinal disorders to overcoming serious knee injuries, many of the mixed group of cyclists will be embarking on their first major ride. The cyclists will be vigorously training over the Christmas period for the ride in January 2016, pedaling from Torquay to Adelaide.
The Herbalife Family Foundation Bike Ride will commence in Torquay on the 9th of January 2016, with participants making five pit stops in Mortlake, Casterton, Kingston, Meningie, and Strathalbyn before reaching Adelaide on the 14th of January.
In 2013, after discovering a new love for cycling, event organiser Kevin Beale initiated the first event and raised AUD $30,000 for Herbalife Family Foundation’s Casa Herbalife Programs, which helps to support The Infants Home in Sydney, Lighthouse Foundation in Melbourne and Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation in Perth. After another successful event at the beginning of 2015, where over AUD $48,000 was raised, Kevin hopes to continue the achievements and reach the six sum fundraising figure in 2016.
Kevin says, “I’m very proud of the remarkable people taking part in this ride. It is very commendable to use their new level of health and fitness to help change the lives of children who have faced difficult circumstances, and ensure they have access to nutrition. Through the ride they hope to raise funds and awareness of the Herbalife Family Foundation as well as inspire others to get out there, be healthy and enjoy themselves.”
o ensure participants are fueled and hydrated throughout the 6 day ride, Herbalife will provide all ride participants with products from their sports nutrition range, Herbalife24.
Rod Taylor, General Manager, Herbalife Australia and New Zealand, says, “This event has grown and continues to grow and change the lives of many people. We are proud to sponsor this event for the third year. To become both physically and mentally prepared for such a journey with the aim of raising funds to support the Herbalife Family Foundation Casa Herbalife programs to provide good nutrition to children is so admirable. The riders are the embodiment of Herbalife’s philosophy of healthy active lifestyle, supported by balanced nutrition. I hope that this ride inspires others to set challenges, and try something new.”
Each cyclist taking part in the 2016 ride has changed their personal health and wellbeing. Cyclists will be available for interviews and photographs.
